Attention: All personel [22 Oct 2007|10:40pm]
This is a long shot, but you guys are awesome.

I've been learning to knit, and I would like my next project to be a "Radar" jeep cap. Does anyone have/know of a pattern for this? It's pretty simple, but I'm having a hard time finding it, even without the brim. (Appearently I'm not the only one looking for it, either!) I've tried a cursory search of google with varying keywords and haven't had any luck. Has anyone come across something that might be helpful? Thanks in advance.

I was going to post a long big thing, but I'll just post this. It was going to match En's 5% one, but it doesn't, sorry.
Made by Pegasuss, feel free to distribute.
Feel free to take, post, whatever. It's mostly meant to express a certain "Don't expect me to take you seriously if you feel the need to draw attention to yourself," and more specifically "When you leave lk.fa.org, you're leaving my fav artists and not getting back on,". I should make that the scrollover text, but I'm lazy. No seperate webpage for it because I'm cheap and, as mentioned previously, lazy, not to mention I don't want to any more time or attention to this issue.

(If you do take it I recommend uploading to your own imagehost server because I tend to change my photobucket directories without warning.)

Posted this to a community or two, then realized I probably have more people watching my journal than those communities, so sorry if you're seeing this twice.

I'm looking for some mythical hoofstock/human hybrids (minotaur, faun, centaur, etc). I'm looking for things originating either in Europe or India. Any other hoofstock hybrids I'd also be interested in as well, doesn't matter what the other part is. I'm mostly looking at domestic hoofstock, but anything you can think of would be great.

And to clarify I'm looking for things with historical, legendary, or mythical origins for this particular project.

Thanks very much!

Anyone? Anyone? [01 Jul 2007|12:07am]
Anyone have any screencaps of King Richard from Disney's animated 1973 Robin Hood (Robin's a fox, Little John's a bear, the king's a lion, etc)? I'll try to do you something in return, I just don't have access to it right now. Anything you can dig up would be awesome. :3

Plushie Commissions [16 May 2007|01:43pm]
Current Status: Taking suggestions for sample pieces
(If I make your suggestion I might send it to you for cost of shipping if you want it)

Basic information: All of these are hand sewn using patterns that I design, they are not based on any pre-made designs. All are unique, since even if I do use a pattern more than once I rarely stick to the pattern faithfully. All fabrics are washable, though I wouldn't suggest washing the final plush animal, and are washed before used to minimize shedding. I will show you a rough pattern and sketch of the projected outcome before I begin.

SamplesCollapse )

Pricing:
Pricing will be highly variable, but will depend on cost of materials and amount of time spent on creation. Plushies made using materials I don't have on hand will cost more. I will not post prices until I've got a few more samples done and have a feel for how much fabric and time I need for each type of piece.

Content:
I will do any kind of anthropomorphic or zoomorphic animal. I will attempt clothing for them, though I will need detailed designs.

THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION EXPECT TO SEE CHANGES.

Sample and pricing suggestions welcome. :)

15 foot flower stalks and plushie commissions [16 May 2007|12:48pm]
We have this side garden, full sun, along the driveway. About ten years ago my mother decided she'd get me into gardening, so she "gave me" half the garden. I planted lots of random things in there, including mainly succulents, and a cute little ping-pong ball sized "hen and chick" plant. Anyway, that was the year of the "heat and drought so bad even the cacti died", so the garden kind of went away. Mom replanted it the next year with a butterfly and wildflower garden that she's kept up since, and took over "my half" of the garden (I didn't object too hard). Anyway, she mentioned "my agave" out in the garden the other day, and I was rather confused since all the plants died out the year after I planted them, plus I didn't think I'd planted an agave. Turns out that cute little "hen and chick" plant was actually a Parry's Agave, and actually survived the drought overlooked (it was about the size and color of the mulch it was planted in), and is now two feet wide with two softball sized "pups", one of which I will hopefully take back with me. I am excited, since Parry's Agave grow to be 3 feet wide, 2 feet tall, and put up a 15ish foot flower stalk when they get to be 20 years old. All the more reason not to sell the house for another decade. :P

On a completely unrelated note I think I want to do plushie commissions. Someone made me an offer a few years ago, but I had no fabric or time. I'm not sure if I'll have time this summer, either, but eh, I've got the itch. I want to make more sample ones first, and try to work out a reasonable price scale. Would anyone be interested in giving me suggestions for the sample ones? I've got black and white fuzzy fabric, which I've thus far used to make a panda, I have made a sable and an arabian oryx in the past (but intend to make nicer ones now), and am planning to make a black sheep with some curly scrap fabric I picked up. I am limited to black or brown eyes or green cat eyes, and those fabrics, though I might be able to go back and get white "hair" that's about an inch and a half deep. I'm still experimenting so I can't garuntee they'd come out to anything particularly impressive. I may or may not be able to send them to you for the price of shipping, depending on how good they are/how big they are/if you want them/the price of shipping. So give me some suggestions and I'll try to put together a sample page/price ladder.

ACD Coloring thingy [20 Mar 2007|05:48pm]
Hey guys! If you were going to color an ACD for mah contest <http://bovidaeloony.livejournal.com/180391.html> the deadline's coming up (actually the deadline passed about three weeks ago, the extension expires in a week *L*) so this is just a reminder. I can hold it open longer than that, I just need to know who I'm holding it open for still. :)

Semi-realistic African Savannah Roleplay? [07 Feb 2007|11:26pm]
I've been thinking for a long while about starting an Africa themed roleplay. I've played various places but have always been dissapointed in the treatment of hoofstock or non-mega-predator characters. Zebras have no herd because there are never more than two or three zebras active. No one respects the danger inherant inthe hippotragini because they've never heard of them before. The only relationship between predator and prey species are predator prey interactions, or lion-raising/defending-oryx interactions. Birds are relegated to someone else's sidekick or majordomo. There aren't enough characters of any single species to form family connections, feuds, history, relationships. Endless Round was a bit better, since there was a large percentage of non-lions, but still faced the same problems of never seeing an individual more than once or twice. I had to quit them after not having enough time to commit to playing Rafiki there as much as was necesary for the storyline, but I gather they've dissembled anyway.

Anyone know of any good ones that exist? I've had a very hard time finding non-lion centric ones.

If not, I'd like to form my own eventually. Not a time-intensive one, but a message-board style one with some plotting ahead and relaible enough posting that people get to know each other's characters and know they'll show up for more than one session and never be seen again. I was thinking a realistic type- no jewels, unnatural colors (real but rare patterns are cool, I can always offer suggestions for those sorts of char designs), acessories; realistic relative lifespans (creates interested inter-species dynamics there). A large, central zebra/wildebeest/gazelle herd (no upward limit) with a single breeding male per species. A small pride of lions (5ish), a small pack of hyenas (3-4). Birds, reptiles, etc all welcome, but should follow natural behavior. Perhaps a troop of baboons (for some reason I've never seen these get even as much support as the zebras get). Small bands of the hoofstock that form family groups, could be multiple of these. A band of elephants, if there's any interest (this would be awesome, since they outlive everyone except perhaps tortoises and birds). Some bachelor herds of zebras, others that form bachelor herds. For the sake of simplicity I'm thinking perhaps each small unit (pride, bachelor herd) could be split between two or three players, so there's group interactions without having to wait for multiple people to reply, especially if everyone but one pivitol player is online at once. That would also allow someone to bring in another character without having to contact their player and wait for a response. Depends on how many people there are and how active they are. The level of realism (beyond aesthetic) is something we could play with- they talk, obviously, and have inter-species interactions. We could have religion (built off the pantheon I started? It's variable from species to species by nature, nothing is set in stone), politics, plotting with other species (enisting the lions to overthrow a herd leader, allowing you to take his place, in return for helping them set up an ambush?) I'm highly hesitant about healers and other spiritual characters, but anything you find in the wild (lemurs using centipedes as tick-pesticide, some animals eating, uh, fermented fruit and getting tipsy? Absolutly!) No human contact. (No zoo escapees!) The habitat could obviously also be spread to areas other than the savannah (forest, jungle, deasert) depending on what species people would like to pick up; or they could be bbrought in to range with a good backstory (herd of forest antelope came in-land for water during a drought, stay on the fringes of the savanah since it's the closest reliable source of water). If any person finds themself being the only one playing characters of a social species, we can adjust around that so you don't have to give up the species just because there's no one playing opposite you. If there isn't enough active support for the huge multi-groups, we can focus on a larger group of a single species (a few small herds, or a large one and a few splinter/bachelor herds) or close congregation of species (the gazelle/wildebeest/zebra herd, nyala/baboon groups, anything that hang out together) Yeah, this is all off the top of my head, sorry if it doesn't make sense.

Suggestions? Support? Let me know if you don't think that you have time to post right now but maybe would join up later? No time commitment necesary, it would be nice if you let the people you were RPing with know you have exams in two weeks and need to wrap up a storyline soon, but it wouldn't be the kind of thing where you're kicked off for being inactive. If you know you'll have two weeks free between semesters and want to do something then I'm sure we could find something. This would be built around many busy people, I want ideas on how to maximize convenience for people's schedules. The point of this would be fun in your offtime, not stress to find the time to reply all the time.

But yeah, and response/feedback to this idea at all would be great. It's still in the brainstorm/is it worth it to even look into stages. Or if one similair already exists, it'd save me a lot of work, so point me in that direction. *L*

Coloring! [30 Jan 2007|07:38pm]
[ mood | creative ]

Hey all! I'm looking to get some poeple to color some lineart for me. :P It's for my American Cream Draft studlets on VHR. Basically, I want to get different people with different coloring styles to do the different color variants using the same lineart for that awesome individual look for my boys.

If you are on VHR, I've got some pretty nifty prizes (10+ million VHR cash, Gypsy Drum foal, ACD stud, trainings and lots more) so let me know if you want to be in the running.

Guidelines: ACDs come in variations of sorrel, gold, palomino, and creme. Body color no darker than creme soda, hair color no darker than body color, amber eyes, light skin and hooves. You can find some cool variations on google images.

I'd like the background to be "VHR grey" (sample on templates page), no text or bakcground, but feel free to sign your name, unobtrusive waterwarks around the legs are okay too.

There's a few different templates if you'd like to do feathers or do your own mane and tail.
http://www.geocities.com/bovidaeloony/VHR/ContestTemplates.html

Any little thing would be great, you don't have to spend any time on them. Cartoony or realistic are fine. I'll try to do a request for everyone who colors this for me, even if I have to do it on Sketcher. And it's okay if you are busy right now as well, this thing is gonig to be running for at least another month.

Please? *puppy dog eyes* Let me know what I can do to bribe you, as well. :3

You'd send out an angry mob with intent to lynch to protect your intellectual property rights in regards to art theft and flagrantly abuse said laws when it becomes more convinient for you to obtain music and software than buy them? WTF, mate?

Not aimed at any one in particular, but the community in general.

To me, homosexuality is like abstract art. I don't understand it. I don't know what promts it, or what it means, or why some people find it enlightning and others distrurbing. No one has explained it to me well enough for me to make a value judgement on my part (or anyone else who hasn't had a chance to take some major behavioral science or experienced it themselves) seem justifiable. But I would never question its validity as an art form. I would never call it ugly, or wrong, or abuse people for enjoying it. Life is like a museum- you may not like every piece you see, but life isn't there to cater to your agenda. Don't deface it- just walk away and close your mouth to match your mind.
